Well, here's the first post! Thought I would let you see our pigs for 2006. 4 Berkshire gilts (ladies) from our friends David & Elaine's organic farm, Hoardweel near Duns in the Borders.
The pigs are currently being trained in the house garden on an electric fence, prior to being moved into the rented field next Saturday. It certainly did not take long for them to learn that the electric fence was a bad thing! (As did Oscar our youngest of 4 cats…..)
Last year we had 2 boars from David & Elaine which was by far the best pork we have tasted! Various neighbours were treated to heavily pork based dinners and were delighted with the taste. Our nearest neighbours, Bob & Sue remarked "we had forgotten how pork used to taste!"
We have almost finished eating the pork from last year save a few roasting joints and 3 hams which are hanging outside air drying. Hopefully there will be some vary tasty Parmaham in a few months time!
My mouth is watering at the thought…..
